Vedanta Aluminium, India's top aluminium producer, announced its top spot in the S&P Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) for the aluminium industry in 2023.

This recognition reaffirms Vedanta Aluminium's global leadership in sustainability, covering Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices.

The S&P Global CSA evaluates over 10,000 companies annually, focusing on industry-specific and financially impactful sustainability criteria. Vedanta Aluminium, previously ranked second globally in 2022, significantly improved across all areas, securing the top rank in 2023.

Aluminium plays a critical role in sustainability and global energy transition. Vedanta Aluminium commits to Net Zero emissions by 2050, focusing on reducing and offsetting its carbon footprint through renewable energy adoption and afforestation efforts.

CEO Mr. John Slaven emphasises embedding sustainability practices across the value chain, prioritising resource efficiency, waste management, employee safety, and community partnerships.

Key achievements include:

  • 8% GHG emissions reduction and 16% production increase in FY23.

  • 11% reduction in freshwater withdrawal and 1.5 million cubic meters in freshwater usage savings.

  • Doubling waste utilisation, collaboration on community water body restoration, and introducing electric forklifts.

  • Positive impact on over 630,000 individuals through social interventions.

  • Over 45% increase in community investments and inclusive hiring practices.

As India's largest aluminium producer, Vedanta Aluminium continues its sustainable journey, contributing to a greener future as the 'Metal of the Future'.
