Terra Carta Seal to AECOM

The Sustainable Market Initiative's (SMI) Terra Carta Seal has been given to AECOM because of its commitment to sustainability. Awarded for exemplifying leadership in advancing environmental stewardship industrywide. Designed by Sir Jony Ive, the Terra carta Seal embodies the vision and ambition of His Majesty King Charles III.

AECOM, the world's leading infrastructure consulting firm, received the Sustainable Market Initiative's (SMI) Terra Carta Seal today for its commitment to sustainability and industry leadership in environmental stewardship.

“We're proud to receive the Terra Carta Seal and be recognized at the leading edge of private sector firms working toward a more sustainable future,” said AECOM CEO Troy Rudd.

“The Terra Carta provides comprehensive, guiding principles for progress on our greatest challenges, understanding that markets will define the climate and biodiversity crisis. Our Sustainable Legacies strategy aims to make a positive impact through infrastructure solutions by continuously improving our operations and capabilities to meet rigorous sustainability goals and help our clients and industry do the same.

HM King Charles III, Prince of Wales, launched the Terra Carta Seal at COP26 to honor global companies that are innovating and advancing sustainable markets. Sir Jony ITerra ve's Carta Seal represents His Majesty King Charles III's Terra Carta, a recovery plan for Nature, People, and Planet.

AECOM has become a private sector sustainability leader since launching its Sustainable Legacies ESG strategy. The Company reached operational net zero in fiscal year 2021, progressing toward a rigorous science-based 2040 net zero target validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

The Company's ESG Advisory Services help clients reach net zero, and ScopeX reduces the carbon impact of major planning, design, and construction projects by at least 50% compared to industry norms.

The Company recently formed a Measurement and Transparency Task Force with the SMI to standardize methods and tools for estimating the carbon and nature impacts of sustainable infrastructure projects.

“The SMI brings CEOs together to work on the shared goals of accelerating our transition to a sustainable future,” said Brian Moynihan, Co-Chair,Sustainable Markets Initiative. “I congratulate those organizations recognized with the 2022 Terra Carta Seal and thank them for their commitment to sustainable markets.”

The Terra Carta Seal recognizes that each industry is at a different stage in its transition to sustainability. All industries and companies should be encouraged to improve. To stay within 1.5 degrees of global warming, protect biodiversity, and improve current and future generations' lives, we must move faster.
