GreenGasUSA, an owner and operator of renewable natural gas (RNG) value chain critical assets, and TC Energy Corporation, a leading North American energy infrastructure company, have announced a strategic collaboration to explore the development of a network of natural gas transportation hubs, including RNG.

These transportation hubs would centralize access to existing energy transportation infrastructure for renewable natural gas sources such as farms, wastewater treatment plants, and landfills.

As part of this collaboration, GreenGasUSA will generate RNG, which is the result of organic matter decomposition, condition the gas to pipeline quality, and transport it to the RNG hub. This is supported by firm transportation contracts for RNG transport with TC Energy. TC Energy will construct, own, and operate the RNG transportation hubs, taking critical steps toward accelerating methane capture projects and, as a result, lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. TC Energy has been transporting RNG in the United States since 2005. TC Energy's U.S. Natural Gas footprint currently has 10 RNG interconnects, with plans to rapidly expand and provide more capability before the end of the year.

The following are the anticipated benefits of this collaboration:

reducing GHG emissions by providing RNG developers with cost-effective market access. Expanding the equitable participation of various biogas sources in renewable energy markets. Increasing energy resilience and independence through the use of natural gas and renewable energy sources. More innovative solutions, economic viability, and carbon-neutral energy opportunities for customers.

The combination of TC Energy's extensive energy distribution network and GreenGasUSA's extensive experience in gas compression, compressed natural gas (CNG) transportation, and pipeline injection is expected to increase methane capture and the use of renewable fuels in the energy mix. Within the next four years, these transportation hubs are expected to be built in several states along TC Energy's 32,700-mile U.S. Natural Gas pipeline system. The first hub is scheduled to open in the second quarter of 2023.

"As we continue to find innovative energy solutions for current and future customers, we value strategic collaboration opportunities like this one with GreenGasUSA to transport renewable natural gas,"

said Stanley G. Chapman III, Executive Vice President and President, United States and Mexico Natural Gas at TC Energy.

"We have embraced the growing role of RNG in our industry and are continuing to investigate ways to optimize our existing US pipeline system in a collaborative, safe, and sustainable manner."

"We're excited to collaborate with TC Energy on the development of these RNG hubs,"

said Marc Fetten, owner of GreenGasUSA.

"These are critical steps toward making the planet greener by connecting renewable gas sources to energy consumers committed to decarbonization and the replacement of fossil fuels."

We're a group of over 7,000 energy problem solvers working to move, generate, and store the energy that powers North America. We're taking steps today to make that energy more sustainable and secure. To reduce emissions from our operations, we are innovating and modernizing. In addition, we are developing new energy solutions ranging from natural gas and renewables to carbon capture and hydrogen to assist other businesses and industries in decarbonizing.
