Poland: TotalEnergies and KGHM Collaborate on Offshore Wind Power Development
TotalEnergies SE

In order to jointly participate in the Polish government's tender for the development of offshore wind projects, TotalEnergies and KGHM formed a partnership.
In order to take advantage of the Baltic Sea's significant potential for wind power generation due to favourable weather conditions, the government has launched a new auction scheme covering 11 areas in the Polish Baltic Sea, representing an expected total capacity of over 10 GW.
The partnership will capitalise on each company's advantages. TotalEnergies will draw on its track record of success in managing large-scale projects, its knowledge of offshore operations, and its connections to global supply chains. As a significant Polish state-owned corporation, KGHM will contribute its market expertise.
If one or more wind farms are selected, the partners will mobilise the best resources to develop these projects to the highest standards and delivery times, with a high level of local content. This will help the local economy, create jobs in Poland, and contribute to the supply of green electricity at a reasonable price.
"Offshore wind development supports both supply security and Europe's energy transition. Poland is especially well-positioned to contribute to the growth of this promising market due to favourable weather conditions, "
said TotalEnergies Chairman and CEO Patrick Pouyanné.
"In order to respond to Polish offshore wind tenders, we are thrilled to work with KGHM. To meet the challenges of these projects and help Poland achieve its goals for renewable energy, we will pool our collective expertise."
"In KGHM's strategy, we stated that climate neutrality would be attained by 2050. We are currently engaged in concrete actions and have moved past the planning stage. Several onshore and offshore projects are currently being acquired by us."
According to Marcin Chludziski, President of the Management Board of KGHM Polska Mied S.A.,
"We have also submitted preliminary applications for the upcoming round of permits in the Baltic. On an offshore wind farm project, collaboration with a French partner "appears to be highly promising,"
he continued.
