Orange Polska has signed a new long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for the purchase of renewable energy. By 2024, Enertrag plans to build an onshore wind farm in Wielkopolska. The farm will provide the operator with more than 120 GWh of energy consumption per year.

Orange Polska has signed a new long-term PPA for the purchase of renewable energy in Poland.

Under the deal, Enertrag will construct an onshore wind farm for Orange Polska by 2024 consisting of a maximum of 10 turbines with a total capacity of up to 36 MW. The farm will provide over 120 GWh of energy consumption annually for the operator. Currently, Orange Polska uses two installations in Wielkopolska to meet approximately 9% of its annual energy demand, and the new farm will boost this figure to 30%.

Julien Ducarroz, President of Orange Polska, said:

“we are constantly striving to reduce our own carbon footprint by managing natural resources and energy efficiently, monitoring their consumption and reducing carbon dioxide emissions related to our operations. Thanks to another wind farm investment, we will be halfway to meet our ambition set out in the .Grow strategy, i.e. to use at least 60% of energy from renewable sources in 2025.”

Simon Hagedorn, Financial Director of Enertrag , added :

“Including this project, we will implement over 200 MW in Poland within two years. The negotiations with Orange were very constructive, and the agreement of a long-term corporate energy purchase agreement in less than three months underlines Enertrag’s experience as a provider of PPAs.”

Actions supporting climate protection are one of the Orange Group's priority goals, expressed in the group’s global Engage 2025 strategy. In spring, Orange Polska announced its own climate ambitions, declaring that by 2025 it would reduce its direct and indirect own emissions by as much as 65% (compared to the base year - 2015). The overarching goal is to achieve net climate neutrality (Net Zero Carbon) by 2040 at the latest - for both own emissions and the entire value chain.
