Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. has taken a significant step in showcasing its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives by releasing its first-ever ESG data book.

This comprehensive publication provides transparent disclosure of the company's efforts to create a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive world.

In the ESG data book, Nissan lists a wide range of initiatives that align with its dedication to sustainability. These include actions to reduce the carbon footprint throughout its value chain, promote a circular economy, foster diversity, equity, and inclusion, and uphold human rights.

Joji Tagawa, Nissan's chief sustainability officer, emphasises the growing importance of tangible action and transparent data to meet ESG commitments and gain trust from stakeholders. The ESG data book serves as a platform for ongoing stakeholder dialogue, enhancing understanding of Nissan's contributions in critical areas and strengthening trust among stakeholders.

The data book covers the final year of Nissan's 2018–2022 sustainability strategy, Nissan Sustainability 2022. During this period, Nissan successfully achieved targets in significant areas, such as reducing CO2 emissions from new vehicles and advancing safety-related technologies to work towards zero traffic fatalities. The company has been issuing annual sustainability reports since 2004 and is set to release its first integrated report in the current fiscal year.

Moving forward, Nissan remains committed to addressing material priorities, including enhancing vehicle electrification, developing inclusive mobility solutions, and championing human rights.

All these efforts align with the company's corporate purpose of driving innovations that positively enrich people's lives. With the ESG data book as a guiding document, Nissan is poised to continue making a lasting impact in creating a sustainable and responsible future.
