New Solar Projects in Denmark: Hydro & GreenGo Team Up
Norsk Hydro ASA
Hydro Rein and GreenGo Energy are set to embark on an exciting new chapter in their partnership with the joint development of two early phase solar projects in Denmark.
This expansion will see the combined capacity reach an impressive 410 MW, marking a significant step towards a sustainable future.
Situated in Jylland, Denmark, these early-phase projects are projected to generate a total annual production of 522 GWh, making them an essential addition to the nation's renewable energy landscape.
The first of the projects, a 114 MW venture, is slated to commence construction in 2025, with operations expected to commence in early 2026. Following closely behind, the second project, boasting an impressive 296 MW capacity, will enter the construction phase in 2026 and begin operations by 2027. These projects are fully owned by Hydro Rein and developed in close collaboration with GreenGo Energy.
Lisa Haukaas, Head of Sweden and Denmark at Hydro Rein, expressed her enthusiasm for the growing presence of the companies in Denmark and the deepened partnership with GreenGo Energy. The venture aligns perfectly with Denmark's ambitious goal to source 100 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2027, further solidifying the companies' commitment to environmental stewardship.
Karsten Nielsen, CEO of GreenGo Energy, echoed Haukaas's sentiments, highlighting the significance of this 410 MW solar portfolio agreement, which marks their third collaboration with Hydro Rein. This expansion of their partnership to a GW scale holds immense promise, particularly with Hydro's financial strength, renewable investment expertise, and strong presence in the Nordic power market.
Currently, Hydro Rein and GreenGo Energy's collaboration spans across an impressive total of six projects. Back in December 2022, they announced a joint venture with CommerzReal to develop two solar projects in Denmark, boasting a combined capacity of 362 MW. Building on this success, the partners revealed two additional joint solar projects in Southern Sweden, boasting a combined capacity of 118 MW in May 2023.
As Hydro Rein and GreenGo Energy continue to drive renewable energy initiatives forward, their ventures serve as a shining example of dedication and commitment to a greener, more sustainable future for the region and beyond. With each new project, they inch closer to their shared vision of a cleaner and brighter tomorrow.
