eBay Aids Small Businesses in Lowering Carbon
eBay Inc.

eBay UK is introducing a training initiative aimed at assisting small businesses in reducing their carbon footprint during their day-to-day operations.
The Carbon Academy is a training programme created in partnership with Climate Partner aimed at helping businesses tackle their carbon emissions. The programme consists of seven modules, including topics such as climate action, carbon accounting, and circular economy.
eBay's community of over 200,000 sellers will have access to the programme through eBay's online academy. Additionally, businesses will be able to obtain a discounted carbon impact report from Climate Partner, which provides advice to reduce the impact of products in the marketplace.
This initiative comes after eBay's sustainable homewares hub launch, which features pre-loved furniture. eBay UK's general manager, Eve Williams, stated that the Carbon Academy helps small and medium-sized businesses overcome the challenges of reducing their carbon impact. The academy will provide practical guidance and bitesize modules to help businesses start their climate action journey.

Williams highlighted the importance of small businesses, as 99% of businesses in the UK are SMEs, and they have a critical role to play in reducing carbon emissions. The Carbon Academy aims to enable small businesses to build the skills and knowledge they need to take action. Williams believes that driving the change needed in the economy will require everyone's effort, and with over 200,000 small businesses using eBay in the UK, the platform can have a significant impact.
