UMW GRANTT International Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of UMW Holdings Bhd (UMW), has launched its first line of bio-hydraulic lubricants. This is the company's first step into the market for green products.

Datuk Ahmad Fuaad Mohd Kenali, president and group chief executive officer of UMW, said in a statement that the UMW Group has successfully created its first bio-lubricant product range, spurred by increased demand for greener lubricants to address environmental issues.

According to UMW, the GRANTT Bio VG Hydraulic Oil, which is made from locally produced palm oil, is blended with triglyceride and additives that give excellent lubrication.

Hydraulic oil is biodegradable, non-bioaccumulative, and non-toxic to the environment.

It is available in two sizes, 18 and 209 litres, and two variations, VG46 and VG68.

"The GRANTT Bio VG Hydraulic Oil has been graded against international standards and put through tough tests on our hydraulic industrial equipment," Ahmad Fuaad said.

UMW M&E Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of UMW Holdings, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mitsui & Co (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd to promote and market green products and services in ASEAN and other overseas markets, with a focus on environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG).

The MoU sets the way for the commercialization of UMW's innovative green products by leveraging the growing demand for sustainable products and services as well as Mitsui's global sales and marketing footprint.

UMW further stated that the collaboration might be expanded to sell and distribute other third-party green products, services, and solutions that benefit both sides.
