Sidel, EcoVadis Join Forces for Greener Supply

Sidel has partnered with EcoVadis to evaluate the environmental, social, and ethical performance of its suppliers. This is a key step in their new supply chain strategy.
EcoVadis assesses businesses in four areas: environmental impact, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. This aligns well with Sidel's focus on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) practices.
"More than 10% of our greenhouse gas emissions come from our suppliers," says Francesca Bellucci, Head of ESG at Sidel. "We take full responsibility for human rights throughout our value chain. Strong relationships with suppliers are crucial to achieving our ambitious ESG goals."
Engaging suppliers in sustainability
Sidel previously encouraged suppliers to participate in initiatives like SEDEX and CDP. Now, they are moving their sustainability assessments to EcoVadis.
“We have already encouraged our suppliers to join campaigns such as SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Disclosure Exchange) and CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), and in 2023 we transitioned our sustainability assessments to EcoVadis. Our goal is to have our suppliers engaged on the EcoVadis platform to further involve our partners in the sustainability roadmap,” adds Lisete Pereira, Responsible Sourcing and Project Manager at Sidel.
This initiative also supports Sidel's compliance with the EU Green Deal's principles, including the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.
Reducing emissions and upholding ethics
Sidel aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from purchased goods and services by almost 30% by 2030, compared to 2019. They also want to ensure respect for human rights and ethical governance across their supply chain.
Julien Carboni, Strategic Account Executive at EcoVadis, adds: “Communication and collaborative action are the keys to success when supporting suppliers to embrace sustainability practices. By working with EcoVadis, Sidel’s suppliers can meet growing regulatory and due diligence requirements while demonstrating their sustainability commitment to their customers with a trusted sustainability rating.”
“At Sidel, we believe that a healthy and transparent collaboration across the entire value chain is the only way to meet the challenge of creating a greener and better future for all,” concludes Francesca Bellucci.
