Sempra has been recognised as one of the World's Most Admired Companies for 2023 by Fortune Magazine, marking the 13th consecutive year the company has received this recognition. The annual list recognises businesses with strong corporate reputations and is a well-respected benchmark of corporate success.
"It is an honour to be recognised among the world's most reputable and respected companies," said Jeffrey W. Martin, chairman and CEO of Sempra. "This kind of award wouldn't be possible without the hard work of our 20,000 employees, who are committed to giving the communities we serve cleaner forms of energy."
Sempra's inclusion on the list demonstrates its reputation as a leader in the industry and its recognition as a company with a strong corporate reputation on a global scale. The company's improved ranking on both the full list and within the Electric and Gas Utilities category highlights its continued success and competitiveness.
Being ranked first in Global Competitiveness among its peers in the Electric and Gas Utility industry is a significant achievement and further underscores Sempra's position as a leader in the field.
The recognition by Fortune Magazine as a World's Most Admired Company adds to Sempra's growing list of global recognitions. Its inclusion as the No. 1 ESG Utility Leader by Investor's Business Daily and its presence on various other lists, such as the Wall Street Journal's Best-Managed Companies and America's Most JUST Companies, Newsweek's Most Responsible Companies and on the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index, demonstrate the company's commitment to sustainability and corporate responsibility.
Sempra's membership in the World Economic Forum's Electricity and Oil and Gas communities and International Business Council further highlights its dedication to improving the state of the world through its work in the energy sector.
Fortune Magazine partners with Korn Ferry Hay Group to select companies for its annual World's Most Admired Companies list. The selection process involves a survey of around 15,000 senior executives, directors, and financial analysts. Fortune looks at the top 1,000 U.S. companies by revenue, as well as non-U.S. companies with $10 billion or more in revenue. These companies come from 52 different industries. The overall corporate reputation score is determined by averaging the scores of nine key attributes. This selection process provides a comprehensive evaluation of companies' reputations, ensuring that only the most well-regarded companies are recognised on the list.
