Schindler Joins WBCSD to Drive Sustainability
Schindler, a leading global provider of urban mobility solutions, has become a member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD).
This collaboration aims to tackle sustainability challenges in the built environment sector.
Schindler's membership positions them to work alongside a network of sustainability-focused individuals and companies. Through the Built Environment WBCSD working group, they will collaborate on developing solutions with a broader impact.
Silvio Napoli, Chairman and CEO of Schindler Group, says, “We've made it our purpose to enhance quality of life in urban environments, with sustainability at the heart of what we do. Becoming a WBSCD member means joining forces with individuals and companies committed to fostering progress, an essential step in delivering on our common commitment.”
Peter Bakker, President and CEO of WBCSD, explains: "We are delighted to welcome Schindler to the WBCSD community. Their commitment to sustainability and expertise in urban mobility will be key as we work together to address the complex challenges facing the built environment. Together, we can drive positive change and create a better world where 9+ billion people live well within planetary boundaries, by 2050"
Schindler's sustainability strategy includes achieving net zero emissions by 2040. This commitment extends throughout their value chain, aiming for positive environmental and social change. Their 70,000+ employees across 100 countries will contribute to this mission by providing the best mobility solutions for urban buildings.
Schindler prioritises transparency through sustainability reporting. Their disclosures align with Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards since their first report in 2012.
