Rubicon Organics Inc., a licenced producer, focused on organically certified and premium cannabis cultivation and sales, has announced the publication of its second annual Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report.

Rubicon Organics has taken the lead in the cannabis industry when it comes to ESG by putting out the first report. The ESG Report covers the period from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2021. It shows that the company is serious about putting sustainability into its operations and supply chain in a formal way. Even though its goals are ambitious, the company holds itself accountable by evaluating and reporting on its ESG journey.

Highlights of the report include:

  • Diverted 53% of waste from landfill through recycling and composting.

  • Achieved 77% diversity across our employee base.

  • Hired locally with 43% of our workforce living within the local community of our Delta facility.

  • Continued to work with BC Hydro on the power upgrade to connect the Delta facility to the power grid, eliminating the need for natural gas generators (completed in Q3 2022).

“I am proud of our achievements in 2021 and know there is still much more for us to do. ESG is a journey, and as we significantly ramped up our business operations in 2021, we have seen an increase in our use of resources, as to be expected. By tracking our results, we continue to hold ourselves accountable as we strive to become the global brand leader in premium organic cannabis products,” said Margaret Brodie, Chief Financial Officer of Rubicon Organics.
