atNorth, a prominent provider of colocation, high-performance computing, and artificial intelligence services in the Nordic region, has proudly announced its membership in the Finnish Data Center Association (FDCA).

The FDCA is dedicated to fostering the flourishing data centre ecosystem in Finland and elevating the standardisation and sustainability of industry practices.

Having acquired two data centres in Helsinki, Finland, in January, with an additional site set to open in Q3 2024, boasting an impressive 25 MW capacity, atNorth remains committed to satisfying the substantial demand for its services in the region. By aligning itself with the FDCA, atNorth is well-positioned to exchange expertise and actively contribute to the growth of Finland's digital economy.

The core mission of the FDCA revolves around advocating the advantages of investing in the Finnish Data Center market and preserving industry quality by crafting and supporting best practices, global standards, and ensuring compliance with sustainability guidelines. The association boasts a diverse membership base encompassing global and local data centre service providers, hyperscalers, carriers, government agencies, ICT providers, and standardisation bodies.

Fredrik Jansson, Chief Strategy & Marketing/Communications Officer at atNorth, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, "We are delighted to join the Finnish Data Center Association. The ideal environmental conditions in Finland, coupled with those in the broader Nordic region, have driven the rapid expansion of the data centre industry. As energy prices remain elevated outside the Nordics, the demand for cost-effective and environmentally conscious infrastructure is poised to surge."

Continuing, Fredrik highlighted atNorth's significant operational presence in Finland over the last ten months and underscored the need for larger-scale data center facilities in the country. The construction of the FIN02 site is a direct response to this demand, and atNorth is actively scouting suitable land for additional "mega site" campuses. The company's unwavering commitment to bolstering the Finnish data centre sector includes ensuring that demand is met with top-tier infrastructure, a skilled workforce, and a strong focus on sustainability.

Mikko Aho, a Board Member at the FDCA, welcomed atNorth with enthusiasm, saying, "We are pleased to welcome atNorth to the FDCA. It is very positive to see a new operator entering the growing Finnish data centre market. This ongoing investment solidifies the Nordics as a prime location for IT workloads. atNorth's expertise in operating sustainable, state-of-the-art data centres is poised to make a valuable contribution to the industry cluster, and we look forward to a productive partnership."
