New Partnership between Holcim and Eni to Produce Green Cement, Explore Carbon Capturing Technology

Cement manufacture is responsible for over 8% of worldwide carbon dioxide emissions, with roughly 900 kg of CO2 emitted for every 1000 kilogramme of material produced. Holcim has made green building solutions a priority in its business plan, with efforts such as accelerating growth through new construction solutions like ECOPact green concrete and ECOPlanet cement, which have lower emissions.

Holcim announced that it is mapping its most relevant locations in Europe to perform industrial-scale pilots and decarbonize its operations while increasing its green cement line. The company's research team will focus on determining the mechanical characteristics of carbonated olivine as a breakthrough raw material in concrete manufacturing.
