Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) has proudly declared its participation in the United Nations (UN) Global Compact initiative, firmly underscoring its dedication to sustainable practices.

By joining forces with other responsible businesses, Navistar seeks to contribute to the creation of a world where everyone can prosper and thrive.

Launched in the year 2000, the UN Global Compact stands as the largest global initiative for corporate sustainability, boasting a membership of over 15,000 companies and 3,800 non-business entities in over 160 countries. It also encompasses more than 69 local networks.

The UN Global Compact issues a compelling call to businesses worldwide, urging them to align their strategies and operations with ten universally accepted principles encompassing human rights, labour, environmental concerns, and anti-corruption measures.

Additionally, it serves as a rallying cry for action in support of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals encompass critical areas such as climate action, promoting good health and well-being, ensuring clean water and sanitation, advancing affordable and clean energy solutions, encouraging responsible consumption and production practices, and fostering innovation and infrastructure development within industries.

Mathias Carlbaum, President and CEO of Navistar, expressed pride in the company's significant strides toward integrating sustainability into their products and business practices.

He pointed to the introduction of the International® eMV™ Series and the next-generation IC Bus® electric CE Series school bus, as well as efforts to reduce energy intensity, as tangible examples of Navistar's commitment to environmental stewardship. Carlbaum emphasised that joining the UN Global Compact is a source of both professional and personal pride.

Participation in the UN Global Compact provides Navistar with a structured framework to contribute towards broader sustainability objectives, as the company remains dedicated to accelerating the impact of sustainable mobility. Navistar's commitment extends to holistic sustainability, encompassing both environmental and social goals.

Navistar is actively pursuing decarbonisation and adopting circular business practices across its products, operations, and supply chain. Recent initiatives include the implementation of a new Code of Conduct that emphasises due diligence with suppliers and business partners, addresses human rights issues, and seeks to reduce emissions within Navistar's supply chain. Furthermore, Navistar has pledged to prioritise the sustainable sourcing of raw materials.

The company has developed a focused strategy to drive meaningful change in environmental equity and equitable access to education within the communities where it operates. Navistar is also striving to cultivate an inclusive workplace culture by actively recruiting, hiring, training, developing, and retaining team members from diverse backgrounds.
