  • Ambercycle’s circular alternative makes the fashion industry more circular and sustainable by using end-of-life textiles.

  • The companies will scale the production of circular materials like cycora® to reduce the environmental impact of the fashion world.

GANNI, a Danish women's wear fashion brand, has signed an offtake agreement with Ambercycle, which manufactures circular, decarbonised materials for leading brands to access the latter's cycora®.

Ambercycle’s cycora® is made from end-of-life textiles and helps GANNI replace around 20% of its yearly use of conventional polyester with cycora®. The new technology is a circular alternative to traditional polyester, which helps reduce landfill waste and the need to extract virgin resources.

The companies began their partnership in 2021, and since then, they have worked to incorporate Cycora® into GANNI’s designs. In November 2023, their first product—a jersey with 30% Cycora®—was launched. This was followed by another launch later in the same year, with 70% Cycora®, indicating the material's scalability and performance for high-end fashion. These collections were also featured in GANNI’s Paris Fashion Week collection.

Nicolaj Reffstrup, GANNI Founder, said: "At GANNI, we’re always looking for ways to improve and take responsibility for our impact. Partnering with Ambercycle on an offtake agreement for cycora® is a natural step in our commitment to circular, low-impact solutions. Agreements like this are vital to scaling innovative materials and reducing the fashion industry’s carbon footprint.

"There’s an urgent need to support innovators and drive long-term collaboration while holding ourselves accountable for transitioning to better material choices. We’re excited to see the impact this collaboration will have in the years ahead.”

GANNI has already mooted plans to reduce its carbon footprint by 50% by 2027 and vowed to use more sustainable materials like cycora® in 10% of its collections by 2025.

For Ambercycle, this is a great achievement, proving that their technology will help the fashion industry adopt more sustainable practices and achieve a circular economy. It will also encourage the company and other businesses in the fashion industry to develop new sustainable technologies that will ease the mounting pressure on the industry to meet sustainability goals.

Shay Sethi, Co-Founder & CEO of Ambercycle, added: "Collaboration is the cornerstone of building a circular future. Working with forward-thinking brands like GANNI allows us to take collective, incremental steps toward transforming the fashion system. This partnership is an example of how shared commitment and action can cultivate sustainability achievements."
