FedEx Corp. has launched an innovative tool, FedEx® Sustainability Insights, which utilises scan data from its extensive global logistics network to provide customers with enhanced access to emissions information.

Developed by FedEx Dataworks, this cloud-based engine uses near-real-time data to estimate CO2e emissions for individual tracking numbers and FedEx.com accounts.

Users can access historical emissions data by account and track number, and the information is presented in various metrics such as mode of transport, service type, and country or territory for eligible shipments from FedEx Express®, FedEx Ground®, and FedEx Freight®.

This tool serves as the foundation for a suite of e-commerce tools, allowing customers to transfer emissions data to their internal systems via an application programming interface (API).

Brie Carere, Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer at FedEx, emphasised the importance of providing customers with the data they need to make sustainable decisions, as consumers increasingly consider sustainability in their purchasing choices. The introduction of FedEx® Sustainability Insights aims to empower customers and support their pursuit of a more sustainable future.

In addition to improving customer access to emissions data, FedEx is actively working towards its goal of achieving global carbon-neutral operations by 2040. The company is focusing on various areas, such as the electrification of its pickup and delivery vehicles, optimising facilities, fuels, and fleets for greater efficiency, and investing in natural carbon capture.

FedEx® Sustainability Insights will play a crucial role in this endeavour by offering data-backed predictive insights and modelling, enabling the identification of further opportunities for network efficiency.

By leveraging its extensive logistics network and investing in sustainability initiatives, FedEx demonstrates its commitment to reducing emissions and promoting a more sustainable approach to global logistics. The launch of FedEx® Sustainability Insights marks an important milestone in providing customers with valuable tools to track and manage their environmental impact.
