Essential Utilities announced that it's once again made it onto Newsweek's list of America’s Most Responsible Companies 2024.

This marks the third year in a row that the company has received this recognition, celebrating its commitment to making a positive impact on the environment, society, and corporate governance.

Christopher Franklin, Essential's Chairman and CEO, highlighted the company's mission to provide clean, safe water and natural gas services while responsibly managing wastewater treatment.

Recent achievements include a 25% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions through pipeline upgrades, renewable energy use, and methane leak detection. Essential is on track to meet its goal of a 60% reduction by 2035.

The company has also focused on diversity in its supplier network and workforce, ensuring it mirrors the communities it serves. In 2022, Essential donated $3.9 million to causes supporting the environment, human services, food security, diversity and inclusion, economic growth, education, and emergency services.

Newsweek, in collaboration with Statista Inc., compiles the list of the top 600 responsible U.S. companies, considering sustainability reports and public ESG performance data, along with feedback from 17,000 U.S. residents.
