DS Smith is investing €6 million to meet the growing demand for corrugated cardboard packaging in western France.

The company's La Chevroliere facility, near Nantes, will gain 4,000 square meters of production space.

This expansion includes a new Bobst Mastercut 2.1 die-cutting machine and a dedicated 2,500 square meter workshop for producing Kaypal cardboard pallets. With a capacity of 2,50,000 units and the potential to make 1.5 million pallets annually, the new line will boost DS Smith's production capabilities.

Kaypal Pallets: Eco-Friendly and Efficient

The Kaypal pallet offers several benefits to DS Smith's customers. These fully recyclable pallets are lightweight (only 3.5 kg), ergonomic, hygienic, and cost-effective. They can also be reused, potentially reducing transportation carbon emissions. The compact, lightweight design also makes Kaypal pallets ideal for air freight, floor displays, point-of-sale displays, pallet boxes, and order preparation in retail logistics centres.

Moving Towards a Sustainable Future

Thibault Laumonier, Regional Managing Director, DS Smith, France, comments:

“The opening of our new Kaypal cardboard pallet production workshop in La Chevrolière will help our regional customers to move towards a circular economy, and with sustainable packaging options that impact positively on the reduction of CO2 throughout the entire supply chain. We are setting new industry standards in sustainable packaging and building a future that is more respectful of the environment that we live in.”
