DBS Announces Appointment of a Non-Director Member to Board Sustainability Committee

Dr BenCaldecott has been appointed as a non-director member of DBS Group Holdings' Board Sustainability Committee (BSC), a Singaporean banking and financial services organisation. DBS CEO Piyush Gupta chairs the BSC, which includes current DBS board members Chng Kai Fong, Judy Lee, and Tham Sai Choy.
Dr Caldecott is the founding director of the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group at the University of Oxford Smith School of Enterprise and the Environment and is a globally recognised sustainable finance expert. He is the inaugural Lombard Odier Associate Professor of Sustainable Finance at the University of Oxford, the first-ever endowed position in sustainable finance and a Supernumerary Fellow at Oriel College, Oxford.
He is also the founder and principal investigator of the UK Centre for Greening Finance and Investment, which was established as the UK's national research and innovation centre to accelerate the adoption and use of climate and environmental data and analytics by financial institutions worldwide.
He also serves on the Climate Impact X advisory board, which is a collaborative venture between DBS, Singapore Exchange, Standard Chartered Bank, and Temasek Holdings.
He has created and launched a variety of sustainable financial initiatives. Among those is being the creator and co-chair of the Global Research Alliance for Sustainable Finance and Investment, a consortium of international research universities dedicated to advancing rigorous and meaningful academic research on sustainable finance.
He also founded the Spatial Finance Initiative to mainstream geospatial capabilities offered by satellite technology and data science into global financial decision-making.
He is also a member of the UK Climate Change Committee's Adaptation Committee and co-chair of the Transition Plan Taskforce, which was established by HM Treasury in 2022 to advise on net zero transition plans. He was seconded part-time to the UK Cabinet Office in 2019 for two years to work as the COP26 Strategy Advisor for Finance in Glasgow.
