Cognizant has expanded its global collaboration with AT&T by joining the AT&T Connected Climate Initiative (CCI). This industry consortium is dedicated to eliminating one billion tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2035 through the use of connectivity solutions and technology.

Joining the CCI is a natural progression of the strong partnership between Cognizant and AT&T. It brings together technology expertise and a shared commitment to helping businesses achieve net-zero status while driving digital transformation.

Manoj Mathew, Head of Cognizant's Sustainability Services Practice, stated that companies in the Global 2000 increasingly recognise the benefits of aligning their businesses with sustainability goals. Cognizant's expertise in connectivity solutions, including IoT, 5G, and Edge, along with specific sustainability-focused solutions across industries, will contribute to achieving AT&T's Gigaton Goal and helping clients become more resilient and prosperous.

Cognizant's Sustainability Services Practice uses advisory and consulting services, IP tools, and the knowledge of dedicated sustainability professionals to integrate sustainability outcomes into clients' digital and business transformation plans. The practice addresses reductions across the entire value chain, from direct emissions (Scope 1) to reductions in the supply chain (Scope 3).

Shannon Thomas Carroll, AVP of Global Environmental Sustainability at AT&T, emphasised the importance of collaboration in measuring and reducing emissions across global value chains. AT&T aims to leverage its core competency in connectivity to help other businesses lower their emissions, and the addition of Cognizant will enhance its ability to make a true impact towards a sustainable future.

Cognizant offers specific sustainability offerings to its clients, such as digitising reporting processes to meet regulatory requirements, analysing the impact of net-zero roadmaps on human capital, leveraging AI for emissions optimisation and supply chain resiliency, and designing processes for zero-landfill manufacturing and circular economy models.

The collaboration between Cognizant and AT&T aims to increase the adoption of Smart Climate Solutions by shared customers, enabling significant emissions reductions and progress towards the Gigaton Goal.
