Key Takeaways

  • Archroma launches “PLANET CONSCIOUS+” the sustainability roadmap for the apparel and textile industry.

  • The programme focuses on 6 dimensions to reduce impact on the environment.

  • SUPER SYSTEMS+ and SAFE EDGE+ innovations for cleaner chemistry and resource management.

Archroma, the leading speciality chemical company committed to sustainable solutions, launches “PLANET CONSCIOUS+” the strategic roadmap to help brands and mills on their sustainability journey in the apparel and textile industry.

“Over the past decade, Archroma has been on a mission to lead the textile industry towards a more sustainable future. But the world’s challenges are escalating – from climate change to economic and geopolitical instability. We believe that the time is right for us to realign our vision to guide the next phase of our development. ‘PLANET CONSCIOUS+’ encapsulates both our responsibility and our potential as a company that touches and colors people’s lives every day, all around the world,” Mark Garrett, Group CEO, Archroma, said.

“With the industry’s most extensive product portfolio and a comprehensive global footprint, Archroma has the resources and drive to go beyond the status quo and advance what’s possible for apparel and textile brands on multiple fronts at the same time,” Paul Cowell, Vice President of Innovation, Marketing, Brand Engagement and Sustainability for Archroma Textile Effects, explained. “The introduction of ‘PLANET CONSCIOUS+’ deepens our commitment to innovation and partnership and sharpens our focus on consumers and the environment to bring about meaningful change with pace and at scale.”

‘PLANET CONSCIOUS+’ consists of 6 dimensions, 4 of which have been rolled out over the past few months:

  • SUPER SYSTEMS+: End-to-end systems that combine processing solutions and smart effects to deliver measurable environmental benefits, better colour and effect durability and cleaner chemistry than current market options. Brands and mills can choose the impacts that match their sustainability goals.

  • SAFE EDGE+: A roadmap for compliance and cleaner chemistries in the textile industry. The Safe Edge platform merged with Foundation+, Archroma’s portfolio that goes beyond compliance standards by eliminating or reducing to zero hazardous substances.

  • ONE WAY+: Archroma’s One Way Impact Calculator, an online tool for sustainable value chain mapping, combined with their expert-led Sustainability Improvement Program (SIP) helps mills and brands to address their specific challenges. This programme provides tools to improve operational excellence, reduce water and energy consumption and create value-added products.

  • COLOR MANAGEMENT+: Advanced colour design and development solution to collaborate between mills and brands to improve sustainability. The largest off-the-shelf colour atlas selection and colour standards developed with Archroma’s SUPER SYSTEMS+ to reduce environmental impact and ensure consistent colour reproduction.

The last 2 pillars of “PLANET CONSCIOUS+” are live recently, and innovation and transparency are at the heart of Archroma’s business.

  • INNOVATION+: Archroma combines science, technology and market knowledge to develop solutions that have a positive impact on the environment. Their research teams in the Americas, Asia and Europe are working on cleaner chemistry and durable effects to support the transition to a circular economy.

  • COMMUNICATION+: By providing authentic, fact-based information to all stakeholders, Archroma increases transparency throughout the value chain. Mills and brands can now communicate their sustainability goals and progress with confidence, navigating regulatory complexities and consumer scepticism.
