Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. has invested as I-REC in order to source a portion of the electricity used in Indonesia from renewable energy sources. Aisin Corporation's three subsidiaries in Indonesia will use 20% of their electricity from renewable sources in fiscal year 2021.

The renewable energy value of the electricity generated at the Rajamandala Hydropower Plant, in which Kansai Electric Power Co., Inc. (Headquarters: Osaka City, Osaka; President: Takashi Morimoto) has invested as I-REC in order to source a portion of the electricity used in Indonesia from renewable energy sources, will be purchased by Aisin Corporation's three subsidiaries in Indonesia.

Aisin is actively promoting the introduction of renewable energy around the world in order to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, and this is the first time Aisin has used I-REC in Indonesia.

With the implementation of I-REC, Aisin's subsidiaries in Indonesia will use approximately 20% of their electricity from renewable sources in fiscal year 2021. Aisin intends to increase the percentage of renewable energy sources to approximately 70% by fiscal year 2025 by gradually introducing I-REC to other subsidiaries in Indonesia.

From fiscal 2021 to fiscal 2025, the Aisin Group's total CO2 emissions are expected to be reduced by approximately 320,000 tons.

Furthermore, Aisin's Thai subsidiaries have been using I-REC since February 2021, and approximately 17% of Thailand's electricity consumption in fiscal 2021 is expected to come from renewable energy sources.

Aisin will actively promote the use of renewable energy, beginning in Asia, where renewable energy accounts for a small portion of the power generation supply, in order to achieve carbon neutrality and realize a sustainable society.
