AirAsia opened a new chapter in its efforts to drive industry engagement and spark greater collaboration by hosting its inaugural Sustainability Day, themed ‘Doing More with Less’.

Yap Mun Ching, the Capital A Chief Sustainability Officer, led AirAsia's inaugural Sustainability Day, which served as a forum for in-depth discussions on the airline's decarbonisation pathways and the opportunities and challenges involved with putting sustainability strategies into practice.

The event featured speakers from AirAsia's technical departments and subject matter experts, addressing topics such as incorporating ESG considerations into fleet deployment, exploring greener biofuels, ESG financing opportunities, and talent management for future growth.

AirAsia emphasised the need for collaborative efforts from all industry stakeholders to achieve the goal of reaching net zero emissions by 2050.

The airline highlighted its focus on fleet upgrades, fuel efficiency programmes, and exploring sustainable aviation fuel options. The event also included insights on stakeholder roles in aviation biofuel adoption, ESG financing options, and AirAsia's commitment to diversity, equality, and inclusion.

Additionally, AirAsia launched a guide to aviation sustainability, providing accessible information on key concepts. The Capital A Sustainability Report 2022 offers further details on AirAsia's sustainability achievements, goals, and targets.
