Introducing the "Pendik" bicycle bag, a revolutionary creation by pinqponq brand from baesiq GmbH in Cologne, Germany. This innovative bike bag boasts a significantly reduced CO2 footprint, thanks to the utilisation of BASF's Ultramid® Ccycled®.

This mass-balanced polyamide relies on alternative raw materials derived from the chemical recycling of plastic waste, particularly pyrolysis oil from end-of-life tyres.

By adopting this approach to production, 100 per cent of the fossil resources typically required for the product are replaced. The allocation of recycled raw materials is implemented through a certified mass balance approach for Ultramid Ccycled products.

"With Ultramid Ccycled, we offer our customers a reduced CO2 footprint for their product without compromising on quality compared to conventional counterparts. Together with our partner pinqponq, we are driving forward the circular economy concept and are eagerly anticipating the launch of other sustainable bag collections in the fall," says Frank Reil, Head of Marketing and New Business Development & Sustainability Polyamides at BASF.

These materials used in the "Pendik" bicycle bag are not only innovative and functional but also sustainable. pinqponq's expansion in the summer of 2023 now includes the "bike" product category, designed to simplify urban commuting.

The "Pendik" model stands out as a 2-in-1 bag with a bike rack function. Its fabric, incorporating Ultramid Ccycled, not only delivers a fashionable matte appearance and a soft cotton-like feel but also retains the robust performance benefits of conventionally manufactured polyamide.

Expressing excitement about this new development, Holger Fabianski, Product Manager at baesiq, says, "We are thrilled to add this highly functional product to our portfolio and, thanks to our collaboration with BASF, become the first brand ever to create functional bike bags using sustainable polyamide. Our bike bags symbolise our vision of merging innovation and responsibility to shape a sustainable future together."
