QuantCube Launches Asset Mapping for ESG Risk Monitoring
Key Takeaways
QuantCube Technology launches Asset Mapping database for risk monitoring.
The solution helps financial institutions assess the ESG risks of physical assets.
The database covers over 5,00,000 assets across 11 sectors.
Alternative data analytics firm QuantCube Technology has released its Asset Mapping database to help banks, insurers, asset managers and corporates monitor the risk of their physical assets.
This solution enables organisations to get detailed ESG risk of their investment portfolios in line with the European Banking Authority’s upcoming Pillar 3 ESG risk disclosures due in 2025.
QuantCube uses advanced computer vision and big data analytics to mine alternative data from sources such as satellite imagery and geolocation information to get deep insights into companies’ physical asset portfolios.
The database covers both direct and indirect asset ownership, with over 5,00,000 assets owned by more than 10,000 companies globally. This allows financial institutions to see which assets are in an organisation’s portfolio and what is in each asset, e.g. where are the production facilities and what are the physical risks from climate and environmental events.
Alice Froidevaux, Director of Product Development and CFA ESG at QuantCube Technology said, “With the newly introduced Asset Mapping solution, users can access precise data on the location of companies' physical assets. The database also provides a clear understanding of ownership structures through comprehensive analysis of both listed and non-listed companies.
"Combined with granular insights from satellite imagery and geolocation analysis, the Asset Mapping database significantly enhances the ability to monitor portfolio risk exposure, particularly from a macroeconomic and ESG perspective.”
The QuantCube Asset Mapping database covers companies globally across 11 sectors: metals and mining, oil and gas, utilities, automotive, construction materials, real estate, chemicals, transportation services, telecommunications, food and beverage, and electronics.
By using Natural Language Processing (NLP) and graph theory to standardise and structure raw and unstructured data on companies and their assets, QuantCube ensures data accuracy and completeness and provides clear information on asset location, ownership structure and activities.
The database has a 3D visualisation of buildings with height and surface area and precise geolocation that can be cross-referenced with weather data. This allows asset owners and investors to see the risk each building faces from extreme weather events such as droughts, floods or wildfires. By applying physical risk models at the asset level and aggregating at the firm level, QuantCube’s approach ensures consistency across assets and firms.
