Renee Thompson, the Director of Global Sustainability and Environmental Compliance at Wesco International, is now the first chair of the Security Industry Association's (SIA) Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Advisory Board.

Her role involves leading efforts to share information about established ESG practices and important marketplace issues.

Thompson has been with Wesco since 2020, guiding the company's sustainability and compliance strategies. With nine years at Wesco, she has contributed to different areas, including health and safety, and holds a business degree from the University of Phoenix.

Thompson is currently pursuing an MBA with a focus on sustainability and environmental compliance at Southern New Hampshire University.

Thompson shared her excitement, saying, "It's an honour to lead Wesco's sustainability team and share my experience with the industry through the SIA ESG Advisory Board."

The SIA ESG Advisory Board, created in 2023, aims to encourage the sharing of information among SIA members on proven ESG practices. This includes guidance on responsible practices, insights on handling ESG challenges in security and recognising members meeting ESG goals. The board also plans to organise educational sessions and a community service day.

Don Erickson, SIA CEO, praised Thompson's leadership in sustainability and corporate responsibility. He looks forward to working with Thompson and the advisory board to discuss critical marketplace issues and improve ESG strategies to meet stakeholder expectations.
