Key Takeaways

  • Connects sustainability-focused businesses with conscious consumers through transparent product labelling.

  • Tackles greenwashing by providing credible, data-driven certification to help businesses communicate their sustainability efforts.

  • Based on life cycle assessments and carbon neutrality standards, aligned with regulations, market trends and stakeholder input.

ClimeCo, a decarbonisation and sustainability solutions leader, has launched the ClimeCo Certified Product™ Program.

This certification programme helps businesses reach sustainability-conscious consumers by showing how their products contribute to environmental responsibility.

As consumers demand more sustainable products, they are faced with the challenge of finding brands that reduce their environmental footprint. Businesses struggle to communicate their sustainability efforts transparently and credibly without greenwashing. ClimeCo’s programme bridges the gap, allowing them to be tangible in their efforts and consumers to make informed purchasing decisions.

The ClimeCo Certified Product™ Program is based on the ClimeCo Certified Product™ Protocol, which uses international standards for product life cycle assessments and carbon neutrality claims. It is aligned with current regulations, market trends and stakeholder input.

The programme is an evolution of the CarbonFree Product Certification, which ClimeCo acquired from the Carbonfund.org Foundation in 2022. Now rebranded and updated, it is part of ClimeCo’s suite of services, giving businesses access to ClimeCo’s industry expertise.

How to get involved in the ClimeCo Certified Product™ Program:

  • Submit a product life cycle assessment.

  • Implement ongoing carbon reduction strategies for your products.

  • Purchase third-party verified carbon offsets to support global emissions reduction and removal.

Upon certification, businesses receive the ClimeCo Certified Product™ badge to display on product packaging and marketing. Certified products can also be listed on e-commerce platforms that list sustainable products.

“Consumers and businesses alike have never been more driven to make positive changes and help in the critical mission of protecting the planet, but many are intimidated by the process, unsure how to get started or confused by competing claims,” said ClimeCo President and CEO Bill Flederbach. “The ClimeCo Certified Product™ Program is perfect for companies that want to demonstrate their leadership and prove to consumers that their products are environmentally responsible. Customers can feel confident that the ClimeCo registered products they are purchasing are sustainable, having undergone a full life cycle assessment and meeting our Protocol’s rigorous emissions reduction requirements.”
