The companies are based in North East England and promote the region's sustainable practices.
The UK's first all-electric rail company, Lumo, has partnered with the UK's first standardised sustainability rating provider for the hospitality industry, Marka, to scale up sustainable travel.
This partnership will help Lumo ratchet up transparency in its sustainability initiatives and encourage the tourism and travel sector to adopt greener practices.
The rail operator has already raised the sustainability bar in rail transportation by running its 100% electric fleet, providing a 50% plant-based menu, promoting e-ticketing, as well as replacing plastic bottles with other sustainable alternatives.
