Tata Power's Solar PPAs: 200 MW & 150 MW
TATA Power
Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a prominent player in the renewable energy sector and a subsidiary of Tata Power, has recently secured two significant Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL).
These agreements entail the commissioning of two solar power projects, one with a capacity of 200 MW and the other with 150 MW.
Situated in Maharashtra, India, these solar projects, totalling 350 MW, will play a pivotal role in meeting the state's renewable energy targets.
Moreover, they represent a remarkable milestone in India's ongoing endeavours to promote clean energy adoption and combat the pressing issue of climate change.
The anticipated commissioning of these 200 MW and 150 MW solar installations is slated for mid-2025, promising to generate a substantial amount of clean electricity annually.
Additionally, these projects are expected to collectively reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by an impressive 4,28,800 tonnes and 3,11,200 tonnes per year, respectively.
Under the terms of the agreement, TPREL will supply clean and sustainable electricity to MSEDCL, making a significant contribution to the state's ambitious renewable energy targets.
In a broader context, TPREL has already established a strong partnership with MSEDCL, with a total capacity of 930 MW tied-up. Presently, 334 MW is being supplied, and the remaining 596 MW is expected to be commissioned within the next 12–18 months.
As for TPREL's overall portfolio, its total renewable capacity now stands at an impressive 7,783 MW, out of which 4,118 MW is already installed (comprising 3,136 MW from solar and 982 MW from wind).
Additionally, there are ambitious plans in the pipeline, with 3,665 MW currently under various stages of implementation, including the present 350 MW project. This substantial commitment underscores Tata Power's dedication to driving the transition towards a greener and more sustainable energy landscape in India.
