In a dedicated push to enhance sustainable and rapid connectivity across Saudi Arabia, Red Sea Global has teamed up with Zain KSA, a mobile telecom operator, to inaugurate the world's inaugural zero-carbon 5G network.
Unveiled at the Six Senses Southern Dunes resort on the Red Sea, this groundbreaking initiative by Red Sea Global, the multi-project developer behind regenerative tourism havens like the Red Sea and AMAALA, in partnership with Zain KSA, brings high-speed 5G connectivity to the region.
The network is powered entirely by renewable energy, harnessed from a staggering 760,000 solar panels constructed by RSG.
"Our ambition as trailblazers in regenerative tourism development compels us to embrace 100 per cent renewable energy in our flagship destination, the Red Sea while striving for a 30 percent net conservation benefit by 2040. This grand vision necessitates remarkable partnerships, and our collaboration with Zain KSA transcends the realms of telecommunications, reaching into the domains of sustainability and environmental safeguarding," remarked John Pagano, Group CEO at Red Sea Global.
This pioneering project, designed to energise the sprawling 28,000 sq. km. destination, seeks to achieve three key objectives: safeguarding the environment, curbing emissions through renewable energy adoption, and mitigating visual intrusion.
Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al-Deghaither, CEO of Zain KSA, stated, "Our partnership with 'Red Sea Global,' a visionary leader in sustainable development, underscores our shared commitment to a future where human progress harmonises with the preservation of nature, aligning with the ideals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030."
As it prepares to welcome its inaugural guests later this year, the Red Sea initiative envisions a collection of 50 resorts, presenting a total of 8,000 hotel rooms and over 1,000 residential properties spread across 22 islands and six inland locations upon completion.
