CIMB Bank Berhad and CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad, collectively known as CIMB, proudly unveil their pioneering branch, ingeniously integrated with sustainable features, situated in a Green Building Index (GBI) certified building at IOI City Towers @ IOI Resort City, Putrajaya.

Representing a momentous milestone for CIMB, this branch seamlessly incorporates both environmental and social inclusion considerations into its design and operations, demonstrating the Bank's dedication to reducing its environmental footprint while fostering a more inclusive banking environment.

Aligned with their sustainable finance agenda, CIMB is embracing an ESG-first approach to promote their array of conventional and Islamic banking solutions at this branch.

The offerings include an impressive range of green home financing, electric vehicle (EV) financing, solar financing, ESG wealth products, B40 financing, and environmentally-focused deposits.

As the pioneering bank in Malaysia to present a complete suite of sustainable finance solutions, CIMB is committed to facilitating customers' adoption of sustainable practices with ease and reward.

In line with their commitment to inclusivity, the CIMB IOI City Mall branch is equipped with tailored facilities and services to ensure a more inclusive banking experience.

These thoughtful amenities encompass a priority ATM lane with enhanced accessibility for customers with special needs, a first across CIMB's Malaysian branch network, along with wheelchair services and designated low counters for over-the-counter transactions.

Complementing their environmental commitments, the branch integrates remarkable features to reduce energy consumption and emissions. These features comprise energy-efficient cooling and lighting systems, employment of certified sustainable construction materials with recycled content, and the reuse of office furniture.

For CIMB, incorporating sustainable features into their branch network will be central to their approach moving forward, as they fervently work towards achieving carbon neutral operations by 2030.

Their strategy includes designing new branches nationwide to minimise environmental impact and emissions, along with retrofitting and enhancing existing branches by implementing energy-efficient lighting and cooling systems while also increasing reliance on renewable energy sources.

Effendy Shahul Hamid, the Chief Executive Officer of Group Consumer and Digital Banking at CIMB Group, expressed his pride in introducing this groundbreaking branch in Malaysia, as it exemplifies their commitment to both social inclusion and reducing environmental impact.

"At CIMB, we firmly believe in ensuring seamless and convenient access to financial services for all members of society, including those with special needs. By continuously digitalising and enhancing our branch network with improved accessibility, we aspire to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all customers to engage and bank with us," he added.

The branch's energy-efficient features are part of CIMB Group's broader initiatives to reduce environmental impact. CIMB has set an ambitious goal of achieving carbon neutral operations by 2030, focusing on Scope 1 direct greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and Scope 2 emissions from electricity consumption.

Already, the Bank has successfully reduced GHG emissions in its Malaysian branch network by 16% from 2019 to 2022, with plans to double this reduction over the next two years.

Furthermore, CIMB is determined to strengthen financial inclusion by enhancing banking accessibility. This commitment includes equipping all branches in its network across Malaysia with wheelchairs by 2023 and increasing the number of branches with wheelchair ramp access by 2024.
