Kyndryl, the world's leading provider of IT infrastructure services, has unveiled its inaugural Corporate Citizenship Report.

This comprehensive report showcases the company's advancements across three core pillars: Environment, Our People and Communities, and Trust. It eloquently underscores Kyndryl's unwavering commitment to tackling environmental, social, and governance priorities, all while steadfastly nurturing enduring value for its stakeholders.

In the words of Martin Schroeter, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Kyndryl, "As a purpose-driven enterprise, we have pledged to operate at the nexus of innovation, environmental stewardship, and social impact. We firmly believe in our capacity to usher in a positive transformation among our employees, our communities, and our surroundings, thereby forging a more inclusive and sustainable future. Moreover, we take immense pride in partnering with our clients to help them realise their environmental, social, and governance aspirations."

Here is an overview of Kyndryl's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) programme, highlighting some of its noteworthy achievements:

The Environment: Kyndryl's sustainability programme revolves around mitigating its environmental footprint and aiding stakeholders in meeting regulatory, customer, and investor expectations. Since its inception, Kyndryl has:

  • Pledged to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, with a target of sourcing 100% renewable energy by 2030.

  • Developed a comprehensive greenhouse gas baseline covering scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and committed to validating its net-zero objectives through the Science Based Targets initiative.

  • Forged a responsible supply chain programme aligned with the Responsible Business Alliance and EcoVadis standards.

Our People and Communities: Kyndryl's people-centric and social strategy centres on nurturing a diverse and highly skilled workforce, with the overarching aim of becoming the employer of choice. Kyndryl has:

  • Cultivated The Kyndryl Way culture, fostering collaboration, mutual responsibility, and excellence. This commitment to employees has yielded an impressive 75.5% engagement score, surpassing industry benchmarks and exemplifying the deep dedication and connection of Kyndryl's workforce.

  • Introduced over 70 Kyndryl Inclusion Networks to champion an inclusive, equitable workplace.

  • Made substantial investments in training and upskilling its talent, with employees averaging 98 hours of training per year and amassing over 35,000 hyperscaler certifications, marking a remarkable 100% year-over-year increase.

Trust: Kyndryl's trust and governance strategy revolves around maintaining a world-class, diverse Board of Directors and instilling ethical conduct within its workforce. The company has also implemented stringent data privacy and protection measures.

  • Notably, 50% of Kyndryl's Board of Directors represent gender, racial, and ethnic diversity.

  • Kyndryl has introduced its Human Rights Policy and established policies to govern corporate behaviour in areas such as labour, health and safety, community engagement, and the mitigation of modern-day slavery risks. These measures set a high standard for human rights in all the countries where Kyndryl operates.

Kyndryl's ESG reporting, as outlined in its Corporate Citizenship Report, aligns with the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board and the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures frameworks, in addition to the Global Reporting Initiative.

Furthermore, Kyndryl aligns its initiatives with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, a set of 17 interconnected objectives aimed at addressing climate change, improving health and education, reducing disparities, and fostering economic growth.

In 2023, Kyndryl took significant steps by submitting its first CDP (formerly Carbon Disclosure Project) Climate Change questionnaire to delineate its environmental performance. Impressively, the company achieved an EcoVadis Silver rating in its inaugural full fiscal year, positioning Kyndryl in the top 25% of all participating companies.
