Mkango Resources Ltd. is delighted to announce that Ms. Philipa Varris has been appointed as an independent non-executive director of the company, pending approval from the TSX Venture Exchange.

This appointment is a crucial step in Mkango's global expansion strategy and underscores the company's commitment to upholding the highest sustainability standards.

With over 25 years of experience in leadership roles focusing on environment, health, safety, and community management in the mining industry, particularly in Africa, Australasia, and Latin America, Ms. Varris brings a wealth of expertise across various mineral commodities.

She has received accolades such as the Australian Centenary Medal for her leadership in Australia's largest community consultation and strategic vision development initiative. In 2020, she was recognised as one of the Women in Mining's 100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining.

Ms. Varris holds a Master of Science in Natural Resources from Curtin University of Technology and is an AusIMM Chartered Environmental Professional and UK Committee member. Additionally, she is qualified with Corporate Directors International. Currently, she serves as the Head of Sustainability at Horizonte Minerals and is a non-executive director of EnviroGold Global, listed on the TSX.

As a proponent of mining ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) leadership, Ms. Varris has led teams that have received esteemed recognitions, including the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) Award for Environment and Social Responsibility, the Australian Minerals and Energy Environment Foundation (AMEEF) Award for Environmental Excellence, and the Mines and Money ESG Producer of the Year Award.

Derek Linfield, Chairman of Mkango Resources, expressed his warm welcome to Ms. Varris, stating, "On behalf of the board, I extend a heartfelt welcome to Philipa and eagerly anticipate collaborating with her. Her extensive experience and sustainability background will bring tremendous value to Mkango as we advance the Songwe Hill project in Malawi and expand our recycling operations in the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States.

"We are particularly excited about her role as the Chair of the newly established Sustainability Committee. Sustainability is deeply ingrained in Mkango's corporate culture and plays a pivotal role in our success in Malawi. The establishment of a dedicated board committee underscores Mkango's commitment to enhanced oversight in this increasingly technical field as we position ourselves for production in both mining and recycling."
