ILO Applauds Pakistan's Business Task Force

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has pledged its support for the establishment of the Pakistan Business Task Force (PBTF) on the UN Sustainable Development Cooperative Framework (UNSDCF).
According to Ravi Peiris, senior specialist, employers activities of ILO, the force would help establish collective solutions to national development concerns and position the business community to support the United Nations (UN) in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Peiris praised the efforts and support of the Employer's Federation of Pakistan (EFP), Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI), Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (ICCIA), and UN Global Compact Network Pakistan in establishing the task force.
He says that businesses, in general, contribute to the attainment of the SDGs, but this often goes unrecognised.
“It is imperative that these achievements not only be showcased but also contribute towards the formulation of future engagement of PBTF in the UNSDCF process.
"The task force would provide the basis for a roadmap for the business community," he envisaged.
