Kate Turner has been named the new global head of responsible investment at First Sentier Investors (FSI), succeeding Will Oulton.

Turner, who is based in Sydney, has been with FSI since 2019, including the last eight months as deputy global head of responsible investing. He will succeed Will Oulton, who is based in the UK and helped establish the firm's Responsible Investment team. Oulton would leave the position at the end of the year after ten years but would continue to consult for FSI.

Chief executive, Mark Steinberg, said: “I am delighted to internally appoint Kate as successor to this important role. For the past three years, Kate has played an integral role in working with our investment and Responsible Investment teams to support the integration of ESG considerations into our investment processes, while also regularly engaging with clients and stakeholders”.

In addition to leadership changes, FSI added four new team members.

Finian Power has been named head of ESG policy and regulation, and Bjorn De Smedt, Belinda White, and Rhys Foulkes have been named responsible investment specialists.

Power was previously the head of investment management in Dublin, White was a senior communication manager in Sydney, Foulkes was a senior credit analyst in London, and De Smedt was a new employee who would be based in Sydney.

Steinberg said: “Our global RI team is now well-positioned to advise on increasingly complex ESG regulations and work with investment teams on critical issues including climate change, human rights and modern slavery, diversity, and biodiversity – all to drive long-term investment performance and help address some of society’s significant challenges”.
