Highlights

  • Nippon Express is now a partner in a Tokyo Metropolitan Government project on SAF for air cargo.

  • The project will cover CO2 emissions and SAF costs until March 2025.

  • The NX Group aims to reduce emissions and be carbon neutral by 2050.

Nippon Express Co., Ltd., part of Nippon Express Holdings Inc., was selected as a designated cargo agent for the "Project to Promote SAF Use in Air Cargo Transport for Corporate Compliance with Scope 3 Requirements", a Tokyo Metropolitan Government subsidised project.

The project helps reduce CO2 emissions across companies’ supply chains. It provides subsidies to cover the extra cost of using sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) for air cargo transport through designated cargo agents until March 2025.

The NX Group has SAF as one of the key solutions for sustainability. The group offers the "NX-GREEN SAF Program" and is participating in the "SAF Flight Initiative" with ANA.

To address climate change, the NX Group aims to reduce its emissions (SCOPE 1 and 2) by 50% from 2013 by 2030. In May 2023, the group set a target to get certified by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and to be carbon neutral by 2050 across all scopes (1, 2 and 3).
