Yinson and AEON Reach Agreement to Supply Charging Infrastructure in Malls

Yinson Holdings Bhd has signed an agreement with AEON Co (M) Bhd and AEON BiG (M) Sdn Bhd to supply charging infrastructure throughout AEON and AEON BiG shopping stores in Malaysia.
Yinson stated in a joint statement that its green technologies division, Yinson GreenTech (YGT), had struck a deal with AEON for charging infrastructure and would launch e-mobility leasing solutions for the group's logistics fleet.
YGT intends to deploy its chargEV chargers with value-added services like customer care and loyalty programmes under the terms of the agreement.
YGT plans to construct a charging station for AEON and AEON BiG's future logistic fleet of electric vehicles (EVs), which YGT will introduce and operate through its full EV leasing solution programme.
According to the companies, these services are being implemented as part of AEON's sustainability charter and are expected to improve the overall efficiency of AEON and AEON BiG malls while providing EV charging services to their retail customers.
Eirik Barclay, Yinson's executive vice-president of technology and new initiatives, stated that Yinson's mission is to assist businesses in accelerating the transition to a net-zero environment.
“Today, we mark another milestone in our efforts to mitigate the effects of climate change as we partner with one of Malaysia’s leading shopping malls.
“AEON has developed a robust sustainability road map for its business. Together, we aim to implement green technologies that will bring Malaysia a step closer to realising its goals for a cleaner future,” said Barclay.
Meanwhile, Yinson's senior vice-president for electromobility, Ruslin Tamsir, stated that YGT is looking forward to working with like-minded partners such as AEON that wish to differentiate themselves through green projects.
Aeon chief ventures and sustainability officer Azli Mohamed said that with 28 AEON malls, 34 AEON stores and 21 AEON BiG outlets, AEON has the largest retail footprint in Malaysia, and "we want to be part of the first and largest retail EV charging network ecosystem in Malaysia".
“Aeon aims to lead the retail sector by enabling the ecosystem for sustainable commuting by future-proofing our malls to meet the needs of the surrounding communities, enriching their retail experience while maintaining AEON's responsibility towards the environment,” said Azli.
Sheikh Farouk Sheikh Mohamed, managing director of Aeon BiG, stated that the relationship with YGT will boost Aeon BiG's value proposition to customers by incorporating a sustainable mobility ecosystem into their shopping experience.
“Together with AEON, we believe such cooperation with YGT will deliver a sustainable impact within the communities we operate,” he said.
