Highlights

  • UNIFI, Inc. introduces white-dyeable filament yarn and ThermaLoop™ insulation to their REPREVE® family, the largest collection of recycled polyester.

  • Both are powered by UNIFI’s Textile Takeback™ process which recycles post-industrial and post-consumer textile waste into new materials.

  • Both products are 100% recycled polyester feedstock with at least 50% textile waste and meet virgin quality standards.

  • Available globally and can be dropped into existing supply chains to help industries especially fashion brands meet their 2030 sustainability goals.

UNIFI, Inc., a leader in recycled and synthetic yarn technology, has added two new products to their REPREVE® family: white-dyeable filament yarn and ThermaLoop™ insulation.

REPREVE® is now the largest collection of regenerated performance polyester globally. Both products are developed through UNIFI’s Textile Takeback™ process, a major juncture in textile-to-textile recycling.

“Polyester is the most widely utilized fiber on the planet, and it’s time for transformative change,” said Eddie Ingle, Chief Executive Officer of UNIFI, Inc. “Textile brands can now create solutions with the entire product life cycle in mind and work towards achieving their 2030 environmentally preferred materials targets. Our goal is to provide the best-in-class sustainable products that eliminate the need for virgin materials and reduce carbon emissions.”

Both products are 100% recycled polyester feedstock with at least 50% textile waste and meet virgin quality standards. The Textile Takeback™ process recycles global post-industrial and post-consumer textile waste into new materials using proprietary technology. UNIFI is also working with global brands to extend the life of materials by taking back their waste and keeping it in circulation longer.

The circular REPREVE filament yarn is versatile, high-performance, white, dyeable polyester for critical applications across industries. The REPREVE line which includes black filament yarn and staple fibres is enhanced with FiberPrint® tracer technology for U-Trust® certification.

ThermaLoop™ insulation comes in down-like fibre, fiberball and padding. The padding is made with REPREVE low melt fibre, a first-of-its-kind technology that enables 100% recycled synthetic padding. ThermaLoop’s black insulation shows the breadth of textile waste that can be used as feedstock.

These products are available globally and can be dropped into existing supply chains without disruption. This commercial scale addresses the biggest challenge for industries that use polyester, especially fashion brands, to create circular apparel to meet their sustainability goals. UNIFI aims to recycle the equivalent of 1.5 billion T-shirts’ worth of textile waste by the end of fiscal year 2030.
