  • One of the primary goals of the tie-up is to lower CO₂ emissions in air and maritime transportation.

The world's leading Aerospace technology company, Honeywell, has signed a Memorandum of Association (MoU) with AM Green, a leader in green hydrogen and ammonia production, to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in India.

The companies will conduct a feasibility study in India to produce SAF from ethanol, green methanol from various carbon dioxide (CO₂) emission sources, and green hydrogen.

The partnership was announced at India Energy Week 2025. It aims to cut carbon emissions in the aviation and shipping industries.

This collaboration will help India lower its dependence on crude oil imports and make the South Asian giant a top exporter of green methanol, which can be used as a green fuel for ships. It will also help airlines meet international carbon reduction targets under the CORSIA mandates by providing low-carbon, drop-in fuel replacements.

Honeywell and AM Green will use their expertise in carbon capture and fuel production and green hydrogen and ethanol production, respectively, to build a strong environment for green fuel production in India.

India, being largely an agrarian economy, will see its farmers benefit from this partnership through the increasing demand for ethanol feedstocks used in the production of SAF. The partnership is also in line with the country's National Green Hydrogen Mission to expedite green hydrogen production.

Ashish Modi, President, Honeywell India, said: "The collaboration with AM Green will help advance India’s low-carbon economy and create an ecosystem that supports the government’s SAF blending mandates, positioning India as a global leader in alternative fuel innovation.

“By combining Honeywell’s proven carbon capture technologies and ethanol-to-jet solution with AM Green’s expertise in green hydrogen and ethanol production, we will pave the way for a sustainable future and reinforce our commitment to environmental stewardship.”

Mahesh Kolli, Co-Founder and Group President of AM Green added: “We are delighted to partner with Honeywell, which is one of the world’s largest technology companies that is positively shaping the future of energy.

"This partnership demonstrates AM Green’s emerging leadership position as a global clean energy transition solutions platform while contributing to India’s ambition of emerging as an exporter of reliable, sustainable and lowest-cost green molecules and its derivatives accelerating industrial decarbonization globally.”

The feasibility study is expected to be completed by mid-2025 and will determine the viability of large-scale production of SAF in India.
