Boursa Kuwait, the official stock exchange of the State of Kuwait, recently organised an Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) workshop in collaboration with Sustainable Square, a consulting firm based in the United Arab Emirates.

The workshop recently held aimed to shed light on the latest ESG and corporate sustainability trends and practices. It underscored the growing significance of these factors in influencing the decision-making process of global investors.

This workshop also served as a part of the celebrations for World Investor Week, an annual event that commenced on October 2nd. During the seventh edition of this week-long event, which ran from October 2nd to October 8th, securities regulators, members of IOSCO, and other stakeholders promoted investor education and protection.

This year's campaign is centred around key themes such as Investor Resilience and Sustainable Finance, complemented by topics like Frauds and Scams Prevention, Basics of Investing, and Technology and Digital Finance. IOSCO members participating in the event have identified themes relevant to their respective capital markets.

Noura Al-Abdulkareem, Head of Markets at Boursa Kuwait, stated, "Boursa Kuwait is dedicated to raising awareness among Kuwaiti capital market participants. We aim to ensure that our market stays abreast of the latest trends, standards, and practices followed by the global investment community, especially in the realms of ESG reporting and corporate sustainability.

"This workshop is a continuation of our efforts over the past few years to help professionals in the capital market industry understand ESG reporting and its significance while also shedding light on various frameworks and standards. We extend our gratitude to Sustainable Square for their valuable insights and anticipate more collaborations in the future."

Monaem Ben Lellahom, Group CEO of Sustainable Square, commented, "Our partnership with Boursa Kuwait reaffirms Sustainable Square's commitment to elevating ESG standards both regionally and globally. Together, we are not only adding value for issuers but also driving a transition toward a more responsible and sustainable business ecosystem within Kuwait's economy. We appreciate Boursa Kuwait for this opportunity and eagerly anticipate further collaborations in the future."

This initiative is part of Boursa Kuwait's ongoing efforts to create a lasting, positive impact on the communities it operates in, aligning with its Corporate Sustainability strategy.

It aims to equip all market participants with a deep understanding of capital markets' functioning and the tools needed to make informed investment decisions that effectively meet investors' needs.

Furthermore, it aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically Goal 4 - Quality Education, and Goal 17 - Partnership for the Goals.
