  • Kani Payments partners with Zero, a UK fintech for climate.

  • Future plans to apply for a UK bank licence for sustainable lending products.

  • Zero’s app will help users reduce their carbon footprint with personal insights.

Kani Payments, a software company in the UK, is partnering with Zero, a new UK fintech for climate, based in Cardiff, Wales.

This will integrate Kani Payments’ data reconciliation and reporting platform with Zero’s operations to streamline their reconciliation and reporting.

Zero will launch under e-Money regulations with a Mastercard debit card and app with zero fees and commissions on international spending, all focused on sustainability. The app will also have tools to help users understand and reduce their environmental impact by tracking their spending.

In the future, Zero will apply for a full UK bank licence to launch sustainable lending products. The app will educate users about their consumption and its impact on the climate and offer solutions to help them reduce their carbon footprint.

This is timely as consumers and businesses are taking action on climate change. Research by Zero shows that Gen Z is most concerned about climate change, 75% of UK 21-34-year-olds feel anxious about it. Of the 14 million people in this age group, 7 million are interested in what Zero has to offer.

Aaron Holmes, Founder and CEO of Kani Payments, said: “The partnership between Kani Payments and Zero Fintech is a powerful one that will support Zero’s ambitious vision of helping its customers to make a meaningful and positive impact on climate change. Zero offers more than just a finance app; it provides a way to make personal finance a part of the solution to environmental issues.

“That’s why Kani Payments exists, our data reporting and reconciliation platform has been built by fintech experts and is designed to help disruptive fintechs like Zero to thrive and grow. We do the heavy lifting of making complex data simple and standardised so that businesses can focus on giving their customers outstanding products and services.”
