Impax Asset Management has launched the Global Opportunities Fund following rising local demand from Australian investors for sustainable global investment options.

The all-cap global equities fund seeks to achieve long-term capital growth by investing in companies with competitive advantages and strong alignment with a more sustainable global economy.

It will also replicate the Impax Global Opportunities strategy, which has been trading since 2015. The strategy has delivered an average annual net return of 12.8 per cent since inception, outperforming its benchmark, the MSCI All Countries World Index (ACWI).

Kirsteen Morrison and David Winborne, who are co-portfolio managers, oversee the Global Opportunities Fund in the UK.

“Australian investors are recognising the opportunity to capitalise on the transition to a more sustainable economy and are wanting greater access to quality funds that take a sector-agnostic approach to identifying opportunities,” Winborne commented.

He added that the fund will focus on firms with a proven track record for producing consistent operation returns, above-average free cash flow predictability, and companies’ long-term opportunities that are not reflected in their share price.

Morrison said: “Our investment process includes a strong focus on the risks arising from the transition to a more sustainable global economy, as well as seeking to harness the opportunities related to that multifaceted transition.”

This will include the clean energy transition in relation to electric vehicles, the shift towards natural ingredients in the health and wellness sectors, and the transition towards personalised medical care.

Impax Asset Management was founded in 1998 with over $76 billion in assets under management as of August 31, 2023, across global listed equities, fixed income, and private markets.

The firm has a fundamental ESG focus on the sustainable global economy and is one of the largest investment managers dedicated to this area.

In Australia, Fidante is the responsible entity of the Impax Global Opportunities Fund and has been the distribution partner for Impax in Australia and New Zealand since 2021.
