The new program, Healthy Green Schools & Colleges, recently launched helps school facility leaders transform sustainability and health of schools and colleges without any huge investments. The program has several aspects, including education, adoption of best practices, certification standards and implementation guidelines etc. 

The program has been designed in partnership with schools facility directors who have bagged various awards are on the steering committee. The facility directors know how to face the challenges facility professionals deal with on the ground. 

The Healthy Green Schools & Colleges program covers the following facilities management practices:

  • HVAC and electric
  • maintenance
  • training and communications
  • indoor air quality testing and monitoring
  • sustainable purchasing
  • cleaning and disinfecting
  • integrated pest management

The program entails a wide range of sustainability improvements, including the following:

  1. Access to a network of professionals in the field of sustainability.
  2. Recognition and certification given to schools by a respected non-profit authority.
  3. Guides, resources and training equipment to support continuous improvement.
  4. A self-assessment tool for schools to objectively measure their indoor environmental health and sustainability performance.
  5. A scienced-based scoring system to help encourage schools to keep improving at their own pace.
