Maria Nazarova-Doyle has been named head of sustainable investment at IFM Investors, a global asset manager owned by a group of Australian pension schemes.

Nazarova-Doyle will lead IFM's sustainable investing team and focus on implementing and measuring various sustainability initiatives across the group's portfolio.

Nazarova-Doyle joins IFM from Scottish Widows, where she was head of responsible investments and stewardship. She also held positions at JLT Employee Benefits and consultants Mercer.

In her new role, Nazarova-Doyle will report to IFM's Chief Strategy Officer, Luba Nikulina. She will be based in London.

"Maria joins IFM at a crucial moment in our industry's adoption of more sustainable investing processes," said Nikulina. "Clients are increasingly turning their attention to the opportunities and challenges of issues like climate change and energy security. Maria's experience and expertise will be invaluable as we continue to develop our sustainable investment capabilities."

IFM is a private markets specialist that manages around £117 billion in assets. The firm's recent deals include the acquisition of a majority stake in GreenGasUSA, which captures, purifies, and transports biogas, and an investment of $50 million in sustainable property firm Smart Urban Properties Australia.

The appointment of Nazarova-Doyle is a sign of IFM's commitment to sustainable investing. The firm is one of a growing number of asset managers that are integrating ESG factors into their investment decisions. This is in response to the growing demand from investors for sustainable investments as well as the increasing risks posed by climate change and other environmental challenges.

IFM's appointment of Nazarova-Doyle is a positive development for the sustainable investing landscape. She is a highly experienced and respected figure in the field, and her appointment will help IFM further develop its sustainable investment capabilities.
