According to Vincent Keaveny, Lord Mayor of the City of London, the "E" element of ESG, which stands for "environment," is no longer a choice but a requirement.

While addressing the Future Investment Initiative Institute regional meeting in London recently, Keaveny said that environmental, social, and governance issues have been a focus for the city of London for several years.

Keaveny expressed his delight that the FII picked London to host the first regional summit outside Saudi Arabia, ensuring a strong commercial partnership between the UK and Saudi Arabia.

According to Keaveny, decarbonisation in emerging countries is critical, and the change will require investments in infrastructure and time.

He also stated that London "will be a supporting partner in the global effort to improve inclusive ESG."
