Johnson Controls, a company specialising in building management systems and solutions, has been named one of America's Greatest Workplaces for Diversity by Newsweek. This award shows Johnson Controls's commitment to promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) at work.

Newsweek said that the company was one of America's Greatest Workplaces for Diversity after a thorough evaluation that included interviews with HR professionals, a review of public information, and an anonymous online survey of employees. The survey gathered over 350,000 completed company reviews to determine the 2023 list.

Johnson Controls' chief human resources officer, Marlon Sullivan, said, "Johnson Controls has known for a long time how important diversity and inclusion are in the workplace. It is the core of everything we do as a company. At the centre of this honour are the 100,000 employees Johnson Controls who make it their mission to take an active role in creating a culture that values uniqueness, celebrates creativity, and drives innovation."

The following are the diversity initiatives of the company since 2020:

• Including sustainability and diversity goals in senior leaders' performance assessments, which are linked to executive compensation to drive accountability,

• Hosting the Perspectives Listening Series, where thousands of employees engage in honest, courageous, and authentic conversations,

• Increasing diverse supplier spending at a rate exceeding revenue growth through a focus on doing business with minority and women-owned businesses in urban markets and specific procurement categories.

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Johnson Controls shows how much the company cares about DEI. The company sponsors nine Business Resource Groups focused on personal and professional development and business impact. In 2020, the company relaunched the Business Resource Group structure with more involvement from the executive team. This led to a lot of growth.
