EDII to Collaborate With Corporates to Establish 10,000 Women-Led Green Enterprises

The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) said that it would collaborate with corporations to build 10,000 women-led green enterprises in 100 districts throughout the country in 1,000 days.

The Government of India has designated EDII as a Centre of Excellence. The institute collaborates with government ministries and departments, as well as India Inc., to conduct development programmes that promote inclusive community progress.

Sunil Shukla, Director General of EDII, stated that the institute has effectively provided entrepreneurial and skill development training to artisans, weavers, female startup founders, and the unemployed, resulting in sustainable livelihood options for them.

He believes that by teaching the right skills to the right people, rural entrepreneurship has the potential to power more than 70% of the Indian economy.

Raman Gujral, Director, Department of Project (Corporates), EDII, emphasised the market's increasing demand for high-end value-added products and services with little environmental impact.

"The need for sustainability in business applies to both big corporates and small enterprises. Keeping this in mind, we need to focus on what strategies can be developed for promoting green enterprises and businesses for economic growth and to save the environment. There is a need for newer innovations and eco-friendly practices both in rural and urban sectors," he said.
