The Hong Leong Global Shariah ESG Fund is the first Shariah-compliant Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) fund launched by Hong Leong Asset Management Bhd. The goal of the fund is to give investors medium- to long-term capital growth by giving them access to a globally diversified portfolio of securities that are Shariah-compliant and focus on ESG criteria.
The HL Global Shariah ESG Fund is Hong Leong AM's second ESG fund launched in the last nine (9) months, underscoring the company's commitment to sustainable investing.
Hoo See Kheng, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Leong AM, said, “We are pleased to launch our first Shariah ESG fund, the HL Global Shariah ESG Fund to meet the demands and growing interest for Shariah-compliant, sustainable investments. Combining the strength of our in-house investment team’s and research team’s expertise, and further benchmarking against the S&P Global 1200 ESG Shariah Index, this demonstrates Hong Leong AM’s commitment to delivering sustainable returns to our investors while providing the opportunity to align their investment goals and personal values.”
Noor Aini Binte Shaik Awab, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Leong Islamic Asset Management Sdn Bhd, said, “The HL Global Shariah ESG Fund is launched at an ideal time, where both ESG and Islamic finance are trending themes. It is encouraging to observe that today’s investors seek more than just financial returns; they have a clear vision and want investment vehicles that do not compromise the environment or faith-based values. Furthermore, Malaysia is recognised as a leading Islamic fund hub across the globe, bringing new prospects to investors who are in search of Shariah-compliant ESG funds. With the launch of the HL Global Shariah ESG Fund, we are delighted for the investors as they are now presented with a new, ethical, and meaningful investment opportunity”.
